For Solution SCROLL DOWN...

Solution:

Here is the solution with 10 gallon water wastage.
OPERATIONS 6 6 11
Fill 6 gallon bucket with water 6 0 0
Empty 6 gallon bucket into 11 gallon bucket 0 0 6
Fill 6 gallon bucket with water 6 0 6
Fill 11 gallon bucket to full using filled 6 gallon bucket. This will leave 1 gallon water in 6 gallon bucket 1 0 11
Empty 11 gallon bucket into second 6 gallon bucket. 1 6 5
Empty 11 gallon bucket - wastage of 5 gallon water 1 6 0
Empty second 6 gallon bucket into 11 gallon bucket 1 0 6
Fill seccond 6 gallon bucket with water 1 6 6
Fill 11 gallon bucket to full using filled second 6 gallon bucket. This will leave 1 gallon water in second 6 gallon bucket 1 1 11
Fill first 6 gallon bucket with 1 gallon water which is in second 6 gallon bucket 2 0 11
Empty 11 gallon bucket into second 6 gallon bucket. 2 6 5
Empty 11 gallon bucket - wastage of 5 gallon water 2 6 0
Fill 11 gallon bucket with water in both the 6 gallon buckets 0 0 11

The farmer should take one 11 gallon bucket and the other 6 gallon bucket filled with water.

The other 6 gallon bucket should be left empty..

step 1 :

Farmer pours water from 6 gallon bucket to ther other empty one (6 gallon bucket )..pours until he feels that wt of both are almost same..just an estimate.

Now, Each 6 gallon bucket holds 3 gallons of water.

step 2

The farmer pours water from the 11 gallon bucket to either of 6 galon bucket until it is full.

Now the farmer is left with 8 gallons of water in 11 gallon bucket.

minimum wastage water is 10 gallons
Filled 2 six gallons buckets with water.(total 12 gallons).

1) Pours water from one of 6 gallons bucket to 11 gallons bucket. and pours other 6 gallons bucket to 11 gallons bucket till 11 gallons bucket full. Now Farmer has 11 gallons of water in 11 gallons bucket and 1 gallon of water in 6 gallons bucket, another 6 gallons bucket is empty.

2. Pour 11 gallons of water into 6 gallons bucket till it fills. empty the 11 gallons bucket( wastage is 5 gallons). now 6 gallons bucket contains 6 gallons of water and another 6 gallons bucket contains 1 gallon of water. 11 gallons bucket empty.( wastage water is 5 gallons)

3)Fill the 11 gallons bucket with 6 gallons of water using 6 gallons bucket which is having 6 gallons of water. and take another 6 gallons of water with this bucket and fill the 11 gallons bucket till 11 gallons bucket full. now 6 gallons buckets contains 1 gallon each and 11 gallon bucket contains 11 gallons of water. pour the water from one six gallon bucket to another 6 gallon bucket. now one 6 gallon bucket contains 2 gallons of water. fill the another 6 gallon bucket with 11 gallon bucket. and empty the 11 gallon bucket( wastage of 5 gallons). now fill the 11 gallons bucket with both 6 gallon buckets. Now 11 gallon bucket contains 8 gallons of water.
Total wastage of water is 10 gallons.

pour water to both the 6 gallon buckets , leaving the 11 gallon bucket empty .

now fill the 11 gallon bucket with the water of both 6 gallon buckets.
then in one of the 6 gallon buckets, there is 1 gallon of water left .

mark that bucket with 1 gallon water , where the water ends .

throw away that 1 gallon water and with the help of the mark of 1 gallon remove 3 gallons of water from 11 gallon bucket of water.

tolat waste is 4 gallons.

3 gallons waste:
fill the 11 gallon buckcet 11 0 0
fill one of the 6 gallons buckets from the 11 gallons bucket. 5 6 0
take the full 6 gallon bucket, and pour half of it to the empty 6 gallon bucket. 5 3 3
Note: "half" can be by volume if the buckets are identical, or by weight if you have a simple scale.
now take the 11 gallon bucket which has 5 galons, and one of the 6 gallon buckets which have 3 gallons - there is your 8 gallons.
